Porcelain veneers require a little more work because they are custom-made in a laboratory. First, the dentist must take an impression of your tooth and send it to the laboratory to create a veneer that will match the tooth, both in shape and colour. A temporary veneer will be placed on your tooth while waiting for your permanent one to be sent from the laboratory. During your second appointment, the dentist will fix the porcelain veneer to your tooth with cement that was specially created for it to stay permanently in place.

Advantages:

• Lasts longer than a resinous compound veneer.
• Choice of shade closer to your adjacent teeth.
• The tooth has a very natural look.
• More resistant than a composite veneer.
• Resists food stains.

Disadvantage:
Irreversible treatment.

Durability:
Between 5 to 10 years if it is properly maintained and of course, with regular dental follow-ups.
